Arsenal could be moving in for a January swoop for Zenit St Petersburg star Andrei Arshavin, as the Gunners are searching for a creative midfielder.
Currently the player is being targeted by quite a number of club including La Liga champions Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur, however they both are known to have failed in their bids to sign the 27-year-old.
With Cesc Fabregas, Theo Walcott and Tomas Rosicky all out with injuries, Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is desperately looking to get in an energetic and creative man to play in the centre and the Russian international could be the perfect option.
However Wenger claimed that he does not want to talk about his list of targets for the January transfer window.
"I don't need to announce a name," Wenger told French television channel Canal Plus.
"Because when you do that there is 50 per cent less chance of making the signing. But I need a creative midfielder and eventually another midfielder, because we are short."
